Samhain: Remembering the Body of the Earth
As the veil thins and the wheel of the year turns, we arrive at Samhain - the ancient new year.
This threshold between death and rebirth has always felt like my true New Year’s Day - the moment when I can exhale, reflect, and return to rhythm.
In the natural world, everything slows. Leaves fall. Soil softens. The air grows still.
It’s as if the Earth herself is taking a breath before beginning again.
For me, this season isn’t about endings - it’s about integration.
It’s a time to honor what has passed through us, what we’ve learned, and what we’re ready to release so that the new can take root.
Mineral Consciousness: Remembering What We’re Made Of
In moments like this, I return to the minerals - the Earth’s oldest memory.
They are the crystalline codes that record time, transmute energy, and remind us of what endures beneath constant change.
Our bones, our blood, our nervous systems - all are woven from minerals.
They carry charge. They communicate. They connect us to the same intelligence that hums in the mountains, the ocean, and the stars.
When we restore our minerals, we aren’t just replenishing nutrients - we’re remembering our belonging.
We’re saying yes to being part of the Earth’s body again.
A Ritual for the Turning
Each Samhain, I like to make a small ritual of remembrance - nothing elaborate, just intentional.
In the quiet of the morning or the glow of candlelight, I’ll pour a glass of water, add my minerals, and whisper gratitude.
For the ancestors.
For the cycles.
For the gift of still being here, becoming again.
As the minerals swirl and dissolve, I imagine them carrying those prayers deep into my cells - reminders that renewal always begins in the unseen.
The Body as Earth, the Earth as Body
This season invites us to honor the balance between release and restoration.
Our modern lives rush us forward, but the body knows when to rest.
It’s built into our biology - the slowing of sunlight, the call for warmth, the craving for grounding minerals and deeper hydration.
Just as the trees draw energy down into their roots, our bodies, too, call for grounding.
For restoration.
For remembering the mineral pathways that keep us in rhythm with the Earth.
Closing the Year with Reverence
Samhain is a mirror - reflecting both the endings that ask to be honored and the beginnings quietly forming beneath the surface.
As we move into the darker half of the year, I invite you to honor your own inner turning:
To replenish what’s been depleted.
To listen to your body’s intelligence.
To let the minerals - the Earth’s consciousness - remind you that death is never the end, only transformation.
Because every cycle, every sip, every season brings us home again.
Ritual suggestion:
Tonight, add your minerals to a warm cup of lemon water. Light a candle.
Whisper a name or a memory of someone you love.
As you drink, imagine the minerals carrying that remembrance into the soil of your being — where life renews itself endlessly.
